Introduction to Creative Health Consultancy

About this practice and Josephine, the Clinical Supervisor.

Creative  Health Consultancy began over 10 years ago, in part as the fruit of  Master of Health Science research project on Client Satisfaction and Outcomes in Rehabiltation.

A practitioner in Occupational Therapy since 1978 ,  the following skills have been established -

Clinical assessment and intervention in rehabilitation, mental health and community practice.

Clinical Supervision.in rural and urban departments.

Management of therapy departments  public and private.

Lecturing and establishing an OT Tertiary Course for Deakin University,

Ongoing study and knowledge relating to  occupational therapy and spirituality.

Masters Research delivered statistically significant results demonstrating that functional  gain in rehabilitation could  be measured through personal report of satisfaction as well as by statisticaly referenced index.

Further study toward a PhD demonstrated through indepth interview, that peoples persnal occupational priorities would vary significantly and would directly affect their satisfaction with life.

The belief that a client centred philosophy, is the only way to  actually practice , in clinical work, has emerged.

Mindful that this is a small private practice and  business, with finite resources, a Co-op approach to therapy is embraced - clients and therapist are entering into an agreement to fulfil certain tasks.Communicting the goals and objectives and exploring alternative options must  also play a significant role for all parties.

Three key  areas of practice have emerged for the practice/ practitioner over the last several years:

Handwriting  and sensory motor skills

Falls prevention

Driving Rehabilitation

Other activities such as relaxation are practiced as required as a part of the therapy programs delivered.

The main Quality driven  activities  undertaken in this practice, areas by way of looking to deepen the significance and benefit of the therapy processes and outcomes to clients, and may relate to equipment, fee structure, therapy programs and delivery methods.

Occupational Therapy Students from all courses are welcome for placement in this small practice as this opens the door for new ideas and  more varied interactions for clients and therapist.

A venue  to discuss the therapy process - top down and bottom up - exists in the student forum. Therapy Students can interact with clients and therapist to learn more about occupational therapy.

To use this forum, a statement of intention about the topic to be discussed/ explored , should be given to the clinical supervisor/ OT, Josephine, by email to- This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
